So far I only tried the Blue Ray DVD and CD system in normal and normal DVDs well.
One problens that when people rent DVDs, DVD quality can was terrible. The players can scratch DVDs soil better than any other player I ever played so far …!!!

Outstanding Blu-Ray player
After much dithering because of doubts about how this Blu-Ray player would mesh with my existing middle-aged audio setup, I heeded the professional opinions about how well this player upconverts DVDs.
As it turns out, connecting the Panasonic to my Sony CRT HDTV and connecting the optical digital sound output to my 5.1-channel receiver produced ideal results.
The audio through the TV is, of course, 2-channel and the digital sound to the receiver arrives as Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS 5.1, even if the format on a Blu-Ray disc is of a higher order. That is fine, as my receiver does not understand the newer formats such as Dolby Tru-HD. The setup and firmware upgrade were extremely smooth.
Picture quality is breathtaking, even on regular DVDs. My only minor complaint is that I don’t see a way to display chapter time or time remaining.
The Digital Video Essentials Blu-Ray “HD Basics” disk (highly recommended for everyone) revealed that the HDMI video output will clip video levels below black or above white with some settings. This normally does not impact picture quality but does tend to interfere with proper setting of brightness and contrast controls. All settings in the Video menu except “Fine” clip below black, and “Fine” clips above white.

The item was listed on Amazon as a new item, however I received a refurbished unit.
The BD-605k will NEVER support Netflix!!!
I read a press release from Panasonic that Viera Cast would be including Netflix. That annoouncement convinced me to buy this player. I also bought a wireless link to hook it to the internet.
But no Netflix appeared. So, I wrote to Panasonic and this was the reply:
“We do apologize for the inconvenience; however Netflix is only available on the 2010 Blu-Ray models. There will be no firmware available to access this feature on your DMP-BD605K as the new additional features of the 2010 Viera Cast system are all hardware improvements and developments and not available via firmware upgrade.”
So, if you planned on using Netflix, rethink your plans. If you want to use Netflix, you will have to try to figure out which of Panasonic’s models are ’2010′ and realize that Viera Cast is not one thing.
The solution here was to select “User” and set Brightness to +3 and Contrast to -1, with all other settings remaining at zero. This provides a nice, linear gray scale with no clipping.
So – don’t let the user manual’s complexity put you off – this player is easy and gives ideal results.

I need tips on hooking my computer to my LCD tv.?
I just got this nice new LCD TV with a VGA input. I want to hook my computer to it and use it as my default monitor (the computer and graphics card are nothing to brag about). What problems will I face? The display is square now, how do I change it to rectangle? Will I need new software or drivers?
You should have no problems using your LCD tv as your default display. If you want widescreen format, your video card must support the resolution. Try using the highest resolution your vid card supports. If that fails, check for updated drivers for your vid card.
BTW…did you try changing the aspect ratio for your tv?
